its not just about arrogance.. start up cost would be enormous. just bickering about which language to accept would take forever (if ever).
then organizing every country around the globe to get professionals to teach this language, motiving society to actually go out and learn it etc.
then the physical cost of replacing EVERY road sign, every restaurant menu, every text book etc.

the amount of work required is simply not practical for the outcome

But there are people who are chronically understimulated and the only way they feel normal, healthy or well stimulated is not by making bonds but by engaging into wars. Creating bonds doesn't give them enough, they need more, they need power.
We are different and you are suggesting a solution that excludes the interest of a certain section of society. Unless you do not eliminate this section your plan can't work. Eliminating that section is not fair because most of them are born that way, they need this to be healthy.

Well I what I think is that if one country starts implementing this sort of thing, the rest will follow the bandwagon.
The outcome would be simply amazing in my eyes, would be the first thing in the entire history of humanity where we could come to an understanding ignoring cultural differences and whatnot. This isnt about money but more about bringing different societies together.
Of course the change would take time, entire generations even, so the change wont be immediate letting us absorb whatever the costs are little by little. Plus im not suggesting to completely eliminate the current languages we have, simply adopting a new universal language that the majority of the world would speak.
