@Toothfariy: I agree that a healthy diet obviously improves people's immune systems. However, a person's nutrition bolstering the immune system (which is actually why the flu vaccine DOES prevent (those strains of) the flu cannot unilaterally prevent all diseases. Even if it could, that would say nothing at all about pleomorphism being right and Pasteur being wrong. Studies have proved that a person doesn't get sick just because they have a weakened immune system. They must first have a pathogen introduced into their body before any sickness happens.
thats what i said. a strong immune system will prevent those things from doing anything. we wont even notice them most likely.
i'm not stupid, i realize that we dont get flu on the sole factor that our immune system is weak; but we get it and are affected by it because of our suppressed immune system.
I have not been sick since i starting eatting better. I know its not scentific, but its very clear to me that it is not a coincedence.
i dont think pasteur was wrong, but i think a lot of our practices based on his theory are misguided to say the least. Its kinda sparked that whole germphobia. You dont have to wash your hands EVERY time you do something. you do have to shower EVERY day. infact a lot of studies show that eatting without washing your hands actually boosts naturally occuring bacteria in your GI tract and thus strengthening your immune system.
Like i said before, im in the middle of both these theories. While i dont think we should be paranoid about germs and bugs, i think its very important to focus on bringing up the health of the host so that stuff doesnt effect them, or if it does, its taken care of swiftly and effectively. But on the other hand, we should obviously avoid things like anthrax. Im not saying pasteur was wrong, but i think theres a lot more to it than just germs = disease.
