Also, keep in mind that while Georges Lemaître was a Catholic priest, he also got his PhD in physics from MIT (you can read his dissertation if you like, it's free to view online: http://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/10753 )Just because someone is religious doesn't immediately make them bad scientists.
