We can produce enough to support the entire world.
If anyone has an understanding of nutrition or biochemistry (i know zeratul does), then you would probably understand that eatting things like refined carbohydrates (as found in HFCS), will supress the hormone leptin and you will end up eatting more, and usually the things people eat in America at least, are things that require a lot of products to make. Mainly corn.
We produce so much because we have such a huge farming subsidy that we are actually over producing on almost everything.
And also a point i would like to throw out there, the negative health effects of pesticide sprayed and gm foods aside, these foods are more perishable then their organic conterparts. The crop yield goes through a a bell curve. It will be very productive after the 2nd or 3rd growing season, but after that, the soil has been completely depleted. After a while, some of these crops have a lot of trouble growing.
For me, there is a noticable difference to how i feel when i eat gm food. And no its not just because i believe its "bad". Long story short, i didnt know i was eatting gm.
I agree that we should grow smarter and better, but gm foods is not the answer at all. Growing organic is much more cost efficient anyway. You dont have to buy seeds from Monsanto, you dont have to fertalize your field cause a smart farmer would be rotating crops, and you dont have to ship grains in for your dairy cows, since they should be eatting grass which grows anyway.

the kid made a stupid comment "adding fish gene to our tomato, yuck". I'm not saying hes dumb, he has good presentation skill for his age, but hes certainly not a genius.
and why the fuck are you telling me to research about genetic engineering, how about you research the benefits of modifying before you even talk
ungrateful kid, your probably against animal testing as well
actually i have done my research. Ive read numerous research publications and many books on the subject. I dont see any benefit to gm foods at all; and also holistic nutrition is my major.
