not sure which crackpot website you got this from but its totally and completely false. There are not going to be any significant planetary alignments in 2012. I know there is going to be a transit of Venus... in June but that happens fairly often.



This is just ludicrous. The amount of energy it would take to all of the sudden stop the spinning core is absurd. It would likely destroy the planet all at once or at least cause magnitude 20 earth quakes all over the planet. Not to mention... how the hell would it start spinning again all by itself.

The poles do indeed shift back and forth but its a process that takes thousands of years. You don't just wake up one morning and your compass is pointing the wrong way.

actually there is evidence that this can happen over the course of weeks (thats pretty fast). we have lived through this several times in human history. computers and electronics have not.

That's absurdly fast and is almost certainly not true. I really doubt there's any real scientific evidence to back up that theory. It's pretty much unfathomable that such a massive geologic change could happen over the course of a few weeks.

This isn't a very well understood phenomenon but from what I've read it seems rather impossible for it to happen that fast. Perhaps over the course of a few decades or centuries, but even that would be rather quick.

Only one way to find out. And that is to wait and see if it happens.

It's kind of hard to imagine some form of self-fulfilling prophecy not occurring with all the hype 2012 has generated.
