IcedShard, from what i've read, the earth goes through a certain phase that happens every 26k years, when the sun is aligned with the center of the galaxy.  once it crosses this line, magnetic forces would cause the earth's poles to shift, possibly resulting in doom and death, or whatever.  it's said that life on earth could be "resetting"  each time this happens.  this video might explain it better.

The dinosaurs lived alot longer than 26000 years and so has everything currently alive on this planet. Therefore, the poles will either not shift, or it wont affect us very much.

There is some evidence there but none of it is conclusive and none of it is strong enough to really put the red alert button on. For example, there is a 1 in 40000 chance that asteroid Apophis will collide with the Earth in less than 20 years (No I'm not quoting Enter Shikari). NASA's 'IRAS' (The Infrared Astronomical Satellite) detected a large heat mass at the edge of our Solar System, it is said that Planet X (Nibiru) is a brown dwarf star (unignited star). This would explain the altering of planets orbits. It is also said that this 'Nibiru' has a very elliptical orbit, coming very close to the Sun. There's loads more to support 2012, but I'm not going to write a book for you. Go research it yourself.

Anyway, what evidence there is, isn't very strong evidence. I suggest you take precautions just incase there IS an apocalypse. However, you should always be ready for an apocalypse imo, especially one of the nuclear kind.

planet x is a joke

if there was a brown dwarf it would still emit enough light/radiation to be detected esp cause its just a little over 2 years away from the said date , Seti would of picked it up years ago cause it has to be emitting massive amounts of radio waves

the heat source could be a simple collision in the oort cloud there are some objects in that cloud bigger then pluto

i was browsing www.december212012.com. we all know there are a lot of scientific and regilious reasonings of a cataclysmic event that will change the planet on that certain day. just for kicks i went to the forum to see how active it was, and sheesh, there are tons of people there talking as though the end of the world is actually coming. they are actually buying guns, stocking up on food, making shelters etc. so, just how gone do you have to be to take this seriously, or even be prepared for it?

Yanks....

When the poles do inevitably & eventually shift (whenever it will be), the effect of that will most certainly affect us.

If the poles WERE to shift the tectonic plates of the planet would begin to travel at speeds as high as 10km/h the forces exerted from plates being forced under each other against each other and over each other would be so great that the resulting earthquakes would be like nothing we had ever seen before. The force would be so strong that the entire earth would shake.

Seeming as this 'supposedly' happens every 26000 years and we have been here 1.8 million years, I highly doubt pole shifts actually take place.

The actual physical poles shift is just nonsense, there's no way to rotational axis could just flip over. The axis does tilt back and forth slightly but this is a very slow and gradual process. The magnetic poles do actually shift and occasionally flip though. However this is also a gradual process that takes thousands of years. It's not like your gonna wake up one morning and your compass is gonna be backwards that simply cannot happen.

The planet x/nibiru stuff is all ridiculous too. Something the size of a brown dwarf that was a few years away would be easily visible in the night sky and would have been confirmed years ago if it actually existed. Most of the nibiru stuff came from some crazy lady (nancy lederer or something like that) who said that aliens were speaking to her and that nibiru was going to collide with earth in 2003. This didn't happen obviously so she just hopped on the 2012 bandwagon and people started eating it up.

Y2k wasnt about the end of the world...

it was a technology issue.....

I guess people weren't exactly saying the world was gonna end for Y2K but the same crazies that believe in 2012 stuff thought that most electronics were going to break. Planes falling from the sky world markets collapsing and a bunch of other nonsense.

Also known as "wobbling", if I recall correctly it takes 25800 years for the planet to complete a full wobble. All a wobble does is swap the seasons round every 12900 years anyway, nothing big.

And you are right, Nibiru is bullshit. I was simply stating the fact that the possibility and theory is there if you want to research it.
