There are advantages of exploring space...we have established a global communication network. It's also an ideal environment for many experiments. I'm not sure how exploring the complexities of the human brain would help advance technology without crossing some ethical boundaries... There are possibilities for the ocean floor, some of those thermal vents release chemicals we could potentially have a use for, and they are already highly pressurized.

Sure figuring out the vast multitude of mysteries here on earth would be fun but think about traveling millions of miles from earth to explore habitable planets and even alien contact! :)

because we need to get the fuck off this rock b4

1) Nuclear War
2) Bad Top-Secret Science Experiment
3) Astroid, turned metor strikes
4) Earth just blows up from the inside / Mass volcanic eruptions

and it would probably be nice to know where the fuck to go to have the best chance of survival.

we can figure out the human brain THERE and not be risking our entire civilization by having all of or metephoric (and genetic, i guess) eggs (no pun intended) in 1 basket...

this is almost exactly what I was going to post in here

What a waste of money. All the money could have been spent on more practical problems. That's the problem with the world, we can't prioritize.

Well, that all depends on whether or not you think our main purpose is to sustain a level of existence that we were born into, or if we should try to progress and expand. Are we as human beings the last line of organisms, or should we be paving the way for the next generation?

Understanding the universe is primordial to fully understand the products of this universe.

When we have not yet even discovered the vast complexity of the brain, nor explored all life on this earth? Or tamed the ocean and other aspects of this world?

Because not everyone has an interest in things that are within reach.
