Let's say you do some violence at the age of 10 and some at the age of 20. At all times between beeing violent you're doing nothing but peaceful things, would you still define this as violent in nature?

Also just to add a follow question to this topic(not that I started it :D), could one say that a child is violent in nature? Let's take a 2 year old kid for instance who haven't really been exposed to the society yet.

ever heard of the terrible twos? that IS when children really start hitting and biting and throwing fits (other then from being wet hungry or w/e other way it needs to communicate with you)

like i said before... every living thing will do what it needs to do to survive.. violence is just 1 of those things that is sometimes required sometimes for survival.

a hungry person will steal and fight for food.. just like an animal.

His nature is still violent, every men has a violent nature which is our instinct. Some can control it better than some other but inside we are all animals, we just don't use that instinct because we don't have to survive everyday.

Great, that settles it then... You say it's our instinct to be violent, but still most of us aren't?
I can agree that SOME men are violent but I don't really think it's in human nature, nor in many other animal's nature.

So to summarize this topic;
Humans are both violent and non-violent in nature, just as HeLiCaL says, it just depends on the surrounding environment.
Therefore we have the instinct of being violent as well as being peaceful. But isn't there one little thing we are all looking for, either if you want it through controlling others or through hard work or even through hurting yourself, just this one little feeling of peace and serenity? So maby, just maby we aren't such bad animals that only are violent all the time.

Enough from me in here now.. I'm so lost in my own thoughts at this moment that I don't even understand what I'm writing. :)
cheers

I believe man is violent by nature when it comes to defend what is his.

But what makes a man kill another man for nothing? I do not know.

survival of the fittest. when you live in a world where rep>survival you'll kill someone for your shot in the spotlight

Is man inherently violent or does the society(video games, movies, etc) makes the man violent?

Man was violent long before video games where around, Man kind survived because it was violent

'Violence' has a lot of meanings. The violence done to our bodies (as babies) during childbirth has been cited as something which shapes our personalities. We leave the tranquil nourishing environment of the womb and enter into bright lights, noise, and chaos. That is the first violence. Babies become "violent" when they don't get what they want, which is often very close to what they need. The older we get, the more we want things we don't need :( Violence is just the recurrence of the immature desire to have what we don't have; namely, peace of mind and body. So yeah, most people are inherently violent. But as we mature we become less violent (I don't mean maturation by age, but by means of rationality and balance in the emotions).
