They're probably off by a couple of years. I know an asteroid is supposed to pass soon, closer to the Earth then some of the satelittes we have, and if it passes a small window in space (With some .000000000001% chance or some shit), the Earths gravity will throw it off course and it will come back in a few years and hit us. Only other thing could be global warming (Definatley not happening fast enough), a massive sun spot like we've never seen before (And the Earths magnetic field shifting like they say it is, but again, 3 years is pretty fast), some disease (Some people some where will be sealed off, though), or nuclear winter. The last one being the most likely, I guess. I think I saw somewhere it'd take around 15 Nukes detonating within the same area/time to kick up enough dust/dirt to block out the sun (Like from a meteor for instance). I think Russia lost more nukes then that.

Well if u belive it, then it will come true in your eyes and its believers. But if god is real, then i would think its possible. If you believe this then you must believe in god, so in that case just be more religous and you should be ok when it hits. Either way you should always live everyday to your fulliest, you never know when your gona die today, tommorow, in 2012. it dosent really matter, just be a good person and keep yourself satisfied you should be fine.

Well, not really that. That's bullshit too. But it's at least closer to the truth than the OP.

Any expert on Mayan culture who has actually studied the Mayans will tell you that the 2012 thing is pure, uncut horseshit. It's a lie spread about by people who want to cash in on the hysteria of morons, and the only thing keeping it going is mentions from the media.

The media will keep mentioning it through their secondary outlets - shit like the history channel and other wonky cable networks - so that there will be enough frenzy that the mainstream media outlets will have to start talking about it as well. Pretty typical stuff. Lots of manipulation of idiots in order to part them from their money. It's par for the course.
