Tell me how knowing part of what animal we are will help us in any way. If we ever found out, tell me how that would help. Knowing the purpose of your existence might help you morally align yourself perhaps? What?

What are you getting out of this, trying to spend massive amounts of money on HUGE telescopes and rockets, that you could override  helping other people on our own god damn planet?

You do realize that half of our planet lives in extreme poverty, so many of them don't have homes, clean drinking water, electricity you talk about, medicine.... and you feel that finding out  (not to mention that the task of

finding this out itself is no mere feat...we won't be able to do that for another 500 years at least) that we're actually a part of a giant zebra is going to help?  Check yourself.

we are actually trying to find another planet to live on, cause this one will be fucked soon

The sooner you realize that we have to take care of the one planet we do have to live on, the better off you'll be, because even if we do find a suitable planet it would take at least a century for us to come up with the technology to actually simulate earth like conditions.

not to mention get there... with current propulsion systems, it takes what, 20 something years or some shit to get to the Kyper belt? and then there is the rather large "Void" between our starsystem and the next.

We are at least a thousand years away from being able to live on any other planet, if not much much more.
So no we are absolutely not looking for another planet to live on..

lol

first of all, this has absolutely nothing to do with morality. morality is a human concept, without humanity, there is no morality, there is no concept of 'good' or 'bad', everything just is.

and I'm not sure what a philosophical speculation that does not require money to explore has to do with poverty? space exploration costs money, not philosophical pondering

so you would rather live a meaningless life with no other purpose other than to survive and thrive? you would rather be ignorant as to why you are in a state of existence? human life is insignificant without meaning, it holds no purpose without some sort of connection to our unexplored universe.

but I guess there are some people like you that wish to just live and die with your society without ever knowing or wanting to know any realities outside of school, work, and death

That is, until the dolphins start forming civilizations.
btw how awesome would that be if we found a dolphin city?

I think I would be more at rest if I knew one existed but was not found

People would be too obsessed with trying to get involved with it and intervene and observe and turn it all into a scientific case study and whatnot

Unless they were more advanced than us, and it turned out that all these dolphins we see are actually studying us.

No one's talking about philosophical pondering (really, wtf are you talking about?) ... No one's talking about remaining ignorant, I'm talking about being REALISTIC. I don't think you realize how big the solar system is, much

less the universe. And you would waste millions on useless space observation while we could be helping millions of people with that kind of money, I don't understand how you can be so thick headed. I'm not saying scrap

the space program, I'm saying be realistic -- stop acting like a 10 year old and realize the state that half of our world lives in. You don't know anything about being dirt poor, you don't even care -- but you would rather

TRY to find out what our universe is.

nobody is talking about philosophical pondering???

That's what this thread is about, you nitwit.

millions on useless space observation??? what??? the question of this thread cannot be solved by any space observation at all so how is that any relevant?

be realistic??? what do you think is more real? the essence of existence and the undying universe we dwell in, or the 60-80 years surrounded by a twisted society of a mere human life that has no relevance to the rest of the world except to humans?? you think that is real??

I like how you believe life is so sacred and life's sole meaning and purpose is to live

wait a minute isn't this thread titled Think Outside the Box?

maybe you should read up on some platonic realism
