1/3*3=3/3

Not 0.999...

e- unless you like this stupid equal identity shit

i don't

1/3*3=.99999=1
1/3*3=1/3+1/3+1/3=.333333+.3333333+.333333=.9999999=1

Come on now.

no.
.999...=1 though.
0,999 is 0.999. you have to point out there's an infinite amount of 9's after

Uhm... okay, you're pretty much all faulting on your math here. .9999999999....etc (9 repeating an infinite amount of times) = 1.

and fyi, 1/3 DOES NOT = .3333

1/3 = .3333333....etc with 3 repeating an INFINITE number of times (this is what we call a non terminating number, which is why it is expressed as a fraction and NOT a decimal. e.g. pi should be represented as 22/7 always, instead of 3.14 if you're trying to be exact)

Thus, .999 doesn't = 1. tyvm.

when I say .3333 or .999 it's implied to be repeating. I think the same goes for everyone in this post.

Also, 22/7 is not close to the actual value of pi. 3.1415 is closer, and 22/7 is 3.14285. Saying 22/7 was a more accurate representation of pi lost you a lot of math credibility on this topic.

Which is why I opened with this:

1 - 1/10^x as x approaches infinity is 1

I see you didn't read anything outside of the title.

Okay fine pi is irrational so that was a bad example.

And if its assumed that .3333 or .9999 repeats, then this topic shouldn't even exist.... 1/3+1/3+1/3 =1 no doubts, then .333+.333+.333 (repeating) = 1.

Whats the big deal?

Heres more logic to it,
10x=9.999999....
x=.9999999
9x=9, x=1

1-.9=.1
1-.99=.01
1-.999=.001
etc..
1-.99999..... = .000000000...1 (infinitely many zeroes, and it never reaches one)
