[QUOTE=juliusjuice,Sun, Apr 5 2009, 11:54am]i think of "high technology" and japan. :p

Yes, well Japan does not have high technology really...they are good at integrating whatever modern technology they have into their society at a great rate...but they lack high technology. Everyone seems to think high tech means great video games and cars from what I see...there is nothing wrong with that really...but I wouldnt say they have "high technology." Clearly other countries are looking into technology that I would say is much higher than video game development and cars.

If you go by computer technologys North Korea is the most wired in and has the Highest Broadband Useage of any country in the world. Then agian their neighbors to the north can just hit the Nuke button and there would be a new numero Uno.

To tell you the truth, very few countries have the resources and money for the types of projects you are thinking about ( I assume things like alternative energy, weapons etc...). America is one of those few, and Japan, while they are rich -- they're not allowed to make technologies such as those (yes, the US has mandated that Japan not have an army, if America did not have an army then half of the projects that are funded right now would be gone, literally).

Ha yea, that is probably why Japan focuses mainly on cars/ video game development. Without government projects for weapons/army they have to go somewhere else with tech. Japan has done well with what they can research, but they really aren't going higher in technology in terms of what they are focusing on. They did alot of work in cars/ game devlopment and have gone above every other nation in those categories really, but are not higher in technological breakthroughs for the actual nanotechnology studies nor are they looking at the origins of particles/Universe/Life etc...

I guess I just dont see cars/video game devlopment a higher tech than some of the research going on around the world.

However, usually when people think of high tech they think of flashing lights, video games, cars, buildings etc...so I guess they would be among the top there, if not the top.

JarofFlies, you seem to think Japan is only known for Video Games and Cars, mabye you should go there and realize just how advanced they are. The USA is far FAR from being the most technologicly advanced first world nation, most American weapon tech is co-engineered by Nato, not just the US.

Japan has revloutionary electronics used in most modern weapons.

Wrong.

Everyone seems to thinks that Japan is only know for cars/ video games. Thats what the common argument seems to be everywhere I look, so thats why I talked about those things. I am not even talking about weapon technology really. They dont seem to be thinking in terms of technology beyond the visible world, but instead Japan seems to be focused on the materialistic aspects of their society.

Yet, I still think the U.S.A. is one of the top, if not the top high tech nation in the world. Beyond all the BS, I know America isnt the only high tech nation in this world and certianly isnt close to being the most high tech in all categories. However, in terms of which nation has the highest technology, I would say U.S.A. would be among the top 5. Ever since 1960s I really think the U.S.A. took their curiousity for the world around them up a few levels.

Of course I didn't mean Japan is full of huts without the use of any metals...I know they are "advanced." Most nations are. I just dont think they are the #1 highest tech nation. This is an opinion thread...it doesnt mean try to reduce everyone's comments by saying "obviously you dont know what you are talking about and I will simplify your argument for you."

Japan is technologically advanced and in many aspects greater than most or all nations. I just dont think they are the #1 nation in high tech research.

Japan has an enormous abundance of the world's leading engineers in almost every field possible.

They're not looking for the origin of the universe/life because it means jack shit.

You've no idea what you're on about.

EDIT: Since when did weapon technology count for being high tech? That's not a priority.

USA is the industralised nation with the highest rate of collaborative and subcontracting engineering in the world. Japan is almost self-sufficient.

Where the fuck is America's maglev train?

Since you are like everyone else that seems to post here I will stoop to your level and win. Since you obviously can not even read and have a very opinionated point of view.

You've no idea what you're on about. Thanks for playing. It was a gg. RuMadyo? lmk. 1-0
