the criteria for abiogenesis is a self-replicating molecule, just that. Hydrogen. Formaldehyde. Oxygen. Hydrolysis. O-Zone are not necessary.
To believe that life formed through creation by something else is even more laughable, because the creator itself must be more complicated than a self replicating molecule, and simply introducing a external creator would lead us to a bigger question: where the hell does the creator comes from. I'd rather believe in the existance of a self-replicating molecule than the existance of a creator, unless theres some solid evidence of such being exist, and no, your inner feelings doesnt count as evidence.
I guess that depends on what you consider evidence or what the next person thinks is evidence, and so on.
Fact of the matter is there is and most likely will always be a debate over creation vs evolution. And even if every experiment from now until forever proved that life on earth came from Abiogenisis, then you'll still have to debate if it was random chance or divine intervention. It's just like trying to guess what happen before the begining of the universe. Even if all of the evidence supports a big bang...we'll never know what happend right before it. So as exciting as Abiogenisis research is, don't use it to take shots at those who have religious beliefs or even off base scientific beliefs.
Answers always lead to more questions.
