I don't doubt they are used in what you say, but I don't think you understand how ubiquitous Gaussian functions are. They're used in a lot of places where probability and statistics are used.
Well if Gaussian equations are used in heat diffusion and then you just apply which chemicals produce the greatest heat diffusion, its really not hard to see how this could be used for Geo-engineering.
I mean it might be in order to provide the best material for insulation, but I really doubt that a company like Fiberglass has the money to run experiments on a University's supercomputer.
Please don't report me to your supervisor's - I'm pretty sure they don't like anyone being able to add 2 and 2 unless they are completely indebted as proved by your own comments and uncertainty about the nature of these experiments.
Actually I thought about this and they must be running r factor insulation for Homes experiments, chicks are turning up the thermostat much to often......
