So I was awake when the news for the seperation was confirmed.

The amount of ppl working while it was going on was quite low... like 5 - 6 ppl. Unless they had another section that wasn't visible to public view.

Anywho, glad it landed safely :)

and here is the first image from the surface released:

Welcome to a comet
Rosetta’s lander Philae is safely on the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, as these first two CIVA images confirm. One of the lander’s three feet can be seen in the foreground. The image is a two-image mosaic. The full panoramic from CIVA will be delivered in this afternoon’s press briefing at 13:00 GMT/14:00 CET.

must be the same studio where they took the Moon photos.....

j/k

has anyone discussed where Comets come from - there musta been a huge planet that exploded or collided or idk?

What is the scientific view of their origin?

a short comment on the origin of comets -> http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=Comets

and where they come from -> http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=KBOs

don't forget to read the second page of each of these links ('read more' tag on bottom of the page)

they withhold information that doesn't suit their agenda eg. anything anti war , whilst presenting themselves as a respectable, unbiased national news broadcaster

both of those links only talk about what an asteroid is and not how they originated.

Ive heard the big bang theory talked about when pondering the origin of planets:

explosion + particle attraction x 10000000000000000000000 = -----> Nice roundish planet.

allow me to paraphrase :

A (ok i get it) + B (sounds logical) = Z (holy crap thats a giant leap)

thats a pretty substantial conclusion.

Like why are the planets so roundish , why are they essential on the same flat plane? Why do they all orbit the sun in the same direction?

Are asteroids the result of the Big Bang or a collision?

If they were from a collision - couldn't we use a supercomputer to essentially see if they fit together by backwards engineering the trillion piece jigsaw puzzle?

(that is essentially the way we figured out Global Tectonics because one person noticed the western coast of Africa fit the eastern coast of South America like a glove)

So many questions, so little time.

Nobody told me, per se. More of an intuitive thing backed by evidence, like most things
