I win all arguments.

And yea, i agree. Its a sad sad world where people thinkthat we can do everything just because we have superior intelligence.

It is sad, but we can, and we pretty much do.

I think it's completely unethical. How would you like living in a cage? The only thing I can think of as a human equivalent would be being forced to spend your whole life in a hotel room. Even with VOD, room service, and every other essential amenity, you would never have that sense of freedom that every living creature deserves. Thousands of people have given their lives for freedom, so its obviously something to be highly valued. Wild animals belong IN THE WILD! If you want to see them, go on a hike or a fucking safari.

Oldboy anyone? :D

this is true, however:

imprisoning innocent animals is just as fucked up as imprisoning innocent people.

just because we are superior doesn't automatically mean that because we can do something, we should.

so we should only imprison animals that rape steal murder or dare i say money launder?

i dont like the idea of preserving species. if one is going to go extinct, i believe it should. its the way nature is. survival of the fittest, even if it means eventually leading to our own extinction. let nature take its course and stop trying to interfere. as for zoos, yes they are unethical. if you really want to see an animal, pay to travel to its natural habitat and experience it there.

the main problem is that animals are becoming extinct because of man made causes like pollution, and when these animals become extinct they cause other animals to become extinct as there is no longer the food etc. most zoos are about as ethical as keeping a pet and if you think about we ourselves are essentially kept in a zoo

Although there are definitely some negative aspects of zoos that need to be dealt with.

When it comes down to it, the positive aspects outweight the negative ones.
They're one of the conservation strategies that aims at maintaining or increasing endangered species under artificial conditions.
Once an endangered species' numbers go up, they can be reintroduced into the wild.

The money raised from zoos can directly fund conservation strategies that work in the wild to preserve natural communities and populations.
Usually the long term goal of zoos and other conservation strategies that work under artificial conditions is to increase the numbers in the wild, not to imprison the animals for human entertainment. Plus, zoos raise awareness and help educate the public about conservation issues.

So, since they're actually helping animals, I'd say ethical.

ETHICAL

Definitely. I don't know why there is so much hype about it. Environmentalists are some of the most illogical politicians.
