didnt we start with religion and mysticism and are now making apologetic to incorporate those into modern worldview? ... we have more how's but still no why's?

Not even a little bit. I don't care what people 200 years from now think about me. I live for my family and my friends. Just because you're of the religious mindset that chooses to believe life has some ultimate purpose and meaning does not mean that if you're wrong that there is absolutely no purpose whatsoever.
