I dont think the world will end 2012 ^_^ just a silly guy started all this.
my thoughts about the world ending is;
1. the sun doesn't burn, everything will be dark, animals will die, no food.
2. meteor
3. black hole
and it will take years before this will happen ^_^
when my mom was kid, the same thing was in the news. but nothing rly happened that year.

1: When the sun dies, it consumes earth and destroys it. That is expected to happen in ~5 billion years, so we don't need to worry about that.
2: Could happen, meteors have hit earth before. However, in most cases we will know if a meteor is gonna hit us several years before it would actually happen, which means we would have time to do something.
3: I'm 99% sure that this isn't a possibility.

i was just thinking, if you take off on a hot air balloon on the 20th, you're virtually immune to anything that can happen on the ground on the 21st.  ^_^

(save alien invasion)

if shit hits the fan the sky would be the last place you would want to be imo, a submarine or a desert would probably be your best bet.

NO! That is retarded, go pray or something. Although it would be hilarious to be able to tell my mom "Happy Birthday Bitch" as the world ended haha

blackhole is not a problem, we would just go into orbit. the sun wont die when it consumes earth dumbass. When it consumes earth is when it becomes a red dwarf tripling in size. It will take time for it to turn into a red dwarf and will happen over a period of time. But we aren't entirely sure when this will happen, we predict 5 billion years. but it could be any time.

It's a pretty damn good sign that it's dying. Well observations of other stars have made scientists say ~5 billion years, I doubt it "could happen any time".

We aren't entirely sure how old our Sun is, but based on how long life has existed on Earth we can draw up estimates. Also the quantity of helium compared to hydrogen in the Sun.

doubtful

the amount of technology required to cross the galaxy in a single life span is un imaginable to us atm, and if a alien race were to be able to achieve this feat would mean there hundreds of thousands if not millions of more years advanced then us. They wouldent come present them selves to us because there would be no point, they would simply observe us with robotics cause the amount of energy required to send robots into space is significantly less then actual life forms, why do you think we send probes to Jupiter and not humans?

let me put it in perspective.

Imagine a ant hill next to a 10 lane super highway,  the ants go about there daily business not knowing or understand what the highway is  completely ignorant to the huge mass of technology and innovation 20 feet away from there home, and we humans dont go to the ants and try to explain to them what its purpose is and how it works  because its useless the ants wouldn't understand, humans just simply sit and observe the ants  not trying to communicate with them.

in this analogy  the ants are humans  and the humans are the advanced alien race.

Aliens wont present them selves until we reach the comparable intelligence of what a dog is to a human, at least then some sort of communication could be exchanged

this was the first thing that came to mind

not worried at all but i bellieve some ancient folks had knowledges that our usual society cant imagine or understand yet at all.
so i dont know if exactly in 12/21/2012 (according to this flawed julian calendar)something will happen but
the universe is cyclic and all the evidences points that were on the verge of closing an old cycle and starting a new one.

Black hole would be a hugely massive problem. If it came close to earth it could just suck us right up. Even if it was somewhere else in the solar system it would still cause problems by disturbing the orbits of all the planets. This could easily send us in towards the sun or out away from the sun. It could just swallow up the sun too and we'd freeze to death in no time.

While we are not exactly sure when the sun is gonna turn into a red dwarf, its gonna be a good long while. Our species will probably be long gone and dead for millions of years by the time the sun dies.

Dude the force of a blackhole is strong enough to bring a whole galaxy of stars into orbit. We orbit a blackhole the size of a solarsystem. thats what the milky way is... If a blackhole was in the system we would all be stretched into spaghetti and die. Also, we wouldnt get sucked up. When we come within like 1 million lightyears of it we will get stretched into spaghetti and die. But if a blackhole was in the galaxy it would orbit the supermassive blackhole in the centre and then if we came near that blackhole we would just begin to orbit that instead of the one in the centre.
