His method of debate seems to be throw out insults, scare anyone who doesn't off who doesn't accept them and if they throw any back cry to mods about how you were treated so unfairly.

Words (and in the case of my previous post, terms) do mean things, including an argumentum ad hominem. In the structure of debate, it is very much an attempt to discredit the arguments presented by an opponent as a way of dismissing their arguments. When I insult flat Earth theory, I am not making an argument, I am making an insult. Because it is deserved. I'm perfectly happy addressing any relevant points you wish to make, and destructing them to the point of being absurd. But that doesn't mean my being insulting along the way is an attempt to discredit your arguments. I can do that using perfectly valid logical arguments. You however? Not so much.
