I had my first lucid experience today thanks to this thread. In my dream, I was in front of a little indentation in a large building. In front of me a downtown street, behind me windows that appeared to be in front of a dress shop. I was trying to teleport behind a tall Roman style column ahead of me, so this reporter woman coming around the corner wouldn't spot me. I instead teleported into a small square white room with a mirror on my right, and an outward rectangular protrusion in the wall on my left that created two spaces to stand in on either side. I suddenly realized in my head I might be dreaming, so I counted the fingers on my left hand. To my surprise, I had none until I started counting them. They appeared and disappeared one at a time, like ghost fingers coming up from behind my hand... Five of course, but I knew by the way they were behaving that I was dreaming. Then I tried looking in the mirror, but realized I could barely move. Then I remembered that looking in mirrors in dream world can be scary. I was suddenly on the wall east of me. The mirror was on the floor. I heard some radio music and thought it was my alarm clock, and my dad might shut it off and I would be late for school. I tried ignoring that, for a good reason. I was back on the original wall where I started, and the mirror was still on the floor to my left. I tried visualizing stuff, but nothing really happened. I was mostly in shock that I was lucid dreaming, and then I woke up. The noise went from blaring radio alarm music to silence. It was 6:52pm and I'm 20, not living with my dad anymore. The mirror on the floor became the mirror on the wall in my room, and stayed in the same spot in my line of sight as I woke up. I'm guessing it's because I was still dreaming as I had my eyes slightly open. Anyways, I tried falling back to sleep, to no avail. Then I wrote my dream details down. It should be noted that I've counted my fingers daily and counted them before falling asleep (with my eyes closed). I also noted that in my dream, the nails on my left hand were longer than my right, yet in real life my right hand nails are not close cut because I'm growing them for guitar playing. Anyways, what a freaky experience. I woke up and counted my fingers to make sure I was actually awake, and I was, of course.
Wow man sounds like you had a great first lucid dream experience! May this be the first of many. Sounds like you were in a bit of shock when you realized you were dreaming and when you were having the mirror hassle haha. Understand that its perfectly natural and that your safe. Take in a big death breathe in your dream world and accept it. Once you accept it you will be free. Because your mind keeps you in a constant state of "reality" when you are dreaming, telling you whats real and whats not. The problem is when you realize your lucid dreaming, your brain doesn't want you to know it, so you will end up becoming extremely anxious and confused in the dream world. Remember to hold on to something tight to keep lucidity if you feel you are losing it. And Spin in a circle as well.
