And hey if all else fails, he should take a long look at existance... and the next to impossible chance that he is alive today to think about it all. He should feel lucky.

Life as sucky as it can be, is still more fun than nothing. So enjoy it.

When you find something to die for, you finally start living.

Tell him to start living.

And tell him that out of all the forms of matter he could've been, he exists as a human being who can think and form purposes for himself.

He can't simply make waste with his life. He has so many human capabilities that are superior to any other kind of animal. He needs to cherish what he can do with his life.
