what if the animal is extinct? best to keep it alive and safe from death than let it die imo.

its ethical..why wouldnt it be? a lotta animals in zoos would be extinct if it wasnt for us.. and as far as being happy, they have all the necessities they need including; food, water, and company..(of the opposite sex)... Sure they are in a cage, but its perfectly ethical for humans to do as we please because we are the smartest and at the top of the food chain. So it is ethical, but the question is, is it morally wrong?

really.. with global warming, poachers, and industries expanding we are slowly killing off certain animals just because we make drastic changes in their Eco-system with out thinking of the damage its causing.. im not saying all of the animals would go extinct.. but there are the few that didnt have the chance to be caught and repopulated so entire species are gone for good.. and im talkin in the last 20 years.. so think what u want but humans are definitely self-destructive by nature, its in our blood to not only destroy ourselves but our entire surroundings..

obviously you have no idea what you're talking about.
extinction is a natural part of existence. It's going to happen whether we zoo animals or not. \
there are things in this world that no one can control or prevent.
imo man kind should stop trying to interfere with so much shit they know nothing about.

i agree with the above statement.
think about it the other way around. what if you were drafted and got put out in a barrack thousands of miles away.
lets pretend like your not in any danger, you just have to chill.. eat the equivalent of dog food, and wait.

personally id rather take a bullet to the face than I had live that like of life.

on a side note.. i love the zoo. i go to 2 or 3 pretty much every summer.

Extinction may be a natural part of existence, but if we have the ability to extend a species' existence on this planet then why not have some sort of captivity to ensure it's survival?
Also, I would hardly consider the diets of captive animals "dog food", or something of similar quality.

Definitely unethical.

What gives the right to a man to keep other animals in prison?

Man made laws, nothing else.

Not to mention poor, unnatural living conditions etcetc.

We're talking about animals.

As long as you keep them ignorant to the outside world they're not going to complain.

That is of course if it's a semi-decent enclosure.

I have a dog, i'm pretty sure he is happy with me.

Therefor, it would be the same thing for zoos.

ETHICAL.
