Problem with organic soils and compost are the parasites that usually live in said soil, that kill plants. Best bet is to buy soil from a dealer who knows how to keep their soil, or grow with a nice hydroponic setup.
Hydroponics are great for small grows.. And they're no where as near as difficult as a lot of people say it it is
I've been gardening for years with organic soils without these problems. Hydroponics is comparatively expensive and entirely unnecessary. My guess is you have some irrational fears about parasites based on something you either read on a cannabis forum (by people that don't really know what they are talking about) or you were told this by a grow shop salesman. Don't forget we are talking about peppers here.
