What does it matter how old the news is? It's the most important conversation we could possibly be having. This isn't a 24 hour news network.

Because we won't be sending a bunch of stupid people to build new colonies.

The main issue with our species is that it is capable of producing Einstein and Paris Hilton

Well when you say it like that...

Problem with advancement of human society is political issues interfere with its progress. We should be rallying together as a society (ideally a global one) to understand and plan missions into the cosmos, however we would rather devote all our time and media coverage to a religious fight across the world that has been going on for several millennia

Unfortunately, we are a LONG ways away from ever teraforming another planet, and if we want to leave our solar system and go to other systems to find suitable planets we need to figure out a way to travel fast enough so that we wont die of old age before we get there lol... It could take hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of years to travel to another planet even remotely suitable to live on or teraform to live on. You also have to take into account that we dont know how the scientific laws apply in these other systems, they may have completely different realities, physics, etc. (Not saying they do, i'm saying we don't know) Not to mention the planet needs to be in the exact perfect position within the system in order to sustain life on it, and some systems have multiple suns, some have more or less planets than our system, it's impossible to know just yet if it is even possible to live on a planet in any other solar system.

Also a good point, and this is the main reason I don't ever see humans living anywhere other than earth. I'm pretty convinced that humanity will end on earth eventually, no clue when, obviously hopefully not soon, but probably as a symptom of war. As a whole humanity is far too concerned with political interest and has far too little concern for the advancement of humanity as a whole.

I do agree with this mostly. Although I honestly dont think earth will end anytime soon, nor will humans be obsolete.
Call me crazy but, having most of the population evaporate for the good of the earth and the small % of ppl who are wiser than most, would be a good thing

This is also true, most rational ppl wish to become leaders, because they know they can aid humanity, steer them into the right "path". Although the selfish ones run' it all, won't ever let such a thing happen.
