As an added note to that, how would competing in the challenge make somebody greedy? Using your abilities to earn money is neither unkind or greedy.
In fact, to compete in the challenge and then donate the winnings would be quite the opposite of unkind and greedy.
Also, your second "reason" is not a discredit to the challenge at all. What if those things did happen? Neither of those outcomes occur before or during the challenge nor do they affect it in any way that I can think of.
