ya first post sounds like maybe the key has some slight deformity or something.

second post just makes me scratch my head. not really sure why it would do that.

have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting your keyboard to the computer? if it is usb, have you tried a different usb port?

to me it sounds like there is some kind of short. are the keys all close to each other? tbh if its a cheap keyboard id just say get another. you can get some cheap keyboards if you dont care, or step up and get a mechanical keyboard. mech keyboards run from ~$80-200 depending on quality.

but its weird that it only does it on certain programs. if there is a driver associated with it i would try reinstalling it. if not... could just be a keyboard defect. i had one that would type a random string of characters when i hit the "y" or "u" key. i got a new keyboard and it was fine.

in your keyboard settings there is an option "no dead keys"
toggle that option. i dunno what OS you use, so you have to figure it out by yourself

try the keyboard on a different computer, if it works there, you know you have a software problem.
if it does not work there, you know you have a hardware (keyboard) problem.
