excessive drug users are prone to psychopathy because they begin to lose touch with reality.

im not that well informed about drugs, but according to stats in my country:

60~70% of alcoholics have a personality disorder to begin with (psychopathy)
70~90% of drug users have a personality disorder to begin with

and im not talking about psychosis, but psychopathy (personality disorder, a state of wrong development of a personality, not an acquired illness)

I think there's some confusion here with psychosis and psychopath.
They have nothing to do with each other.

Psychopath = lack of empathy, remorse, cold-blooded etc. etc.
Psychosis = mind has gone crazy and they talk irrational stuff
Antisocial Personality Disorder = mainly based on criminal behavior. Many of these people have emotions such as remorse or guilt. They often also have morals but not mainstream ones. Psychopath in contrast do not feel extensive guilt or remorse.

A lot of psychopaths are even more immune to schizophrenia, psychosis or emotional outbreaks than the average "normal" person.
If they seem to be in a state of extreme anger, often it's instrumental anger that is gone the next second.

I believe it's got to do with your natural state at birth and environmental impacts also. the foods you eat, the friends you acquire or like to hang around with. What state, County, etc schooling. Television. Not to mention cigarettes and pharmaceuticals. It's not fair to mix that question with illegal "DRUGS".

I for one have done LSD/MDMA/psilocybin/THC and have no negative phyco active problems....

absolutely, i mean in no way to say that psychopathic behavior is just due to pharmaceuticals.

If you have actual research and numbers backing this then take it up with the DSM-5 committee.

by definition we in serbia use (and we seem to be very affected by french psychiatric schools, maybe its different in america): a psychopathy is just short for a personality disorder. ANY personality disorder. among them there are very nice personality types with even MORE empathy (avoidant disorder) and remorse (obsessive-compulsive, avoidant disorders) capacity than an average person. the problem is that most people think that psychopathy = antisocial disorder.

if you are going by that definition, then its kinda logical imo that they are "immune" to schizophrenia as you said. simply because schizophrenic patients usually have a schizoid personality disorder to begin with (complete inability of showing aggression). so since the antisocials can show aggression (and often do), they are statistically less likely to develop schizophrenia. although there are some other schizophrenia types that are more common with antisocial disorder than without (paranoid sch).

anyway bottom line: im pretty sure that a personality disorder is the cause, and the drug use the consequence

anyone on drugs are not it their right frame of mind, as for long term affects, depends on the drug. But any experiences people have can be considered long term, in the way they may think the rest of their life.

don't remind me of that irrational book, i hate it.

this book doesn't even have a diagnosis for psychopthy. only antisocal personality disorder.
y i aggree that they need some more research.

empathy = avoidant disorder? never thought of this. but it does make some sense. if u have a lot of empathy etc. u are too worried to say smth. unacceptable, which could hurt the other person. so you avoid the social setting all together.

y i believe that if u cannot express yourself and cant get rid of anger etc. that this could create a psychotic state. the psychopath in contrast seems to have a remorseless need to express himself.
often their anger does not seem real. they might seem very upset, but in the next second completely normal. what's typical: they insult u and say sorry in the next second, then insult u again. lol

xanax doesnt turn u into a psychopath. it turns u in a zombie.
