Not factoring in all possibilities is much less intelligent than eliminating possibilities just because you cannot wrap your head around it. You dont know whether or not it is true, so dont tell me its not true just because you dont know. Just because you dont have scientific evidence of something does not mean that cannot be possible, maybe science isnt advanced enough. This could just be an exemplar of our paradigm, altering our entire perception of the truth, and we could emerge into the next paradigm.

there is no "truth" to stuff like this. there is only faith.

Can someone explain "lattice quantum chromodynamics" onward?

only idiots try to prove it.

anyone who claims to have any factual proof of whether stuff like this is real is an idiot...anyone who claims to have factual proof that stuff like this isn't real is an idiot.

go shove your mind in a box, and continue to try not to think outside of it.
one day you'll understand your ignorance, i hope. I look at the world philosophically, you seem to look at it structurally, following what only can understand from your experiences, but cant fathom whats outside of them.

No offense, but did you understand the principles in this experiment? Do you understand what some of that jargon means?

I understand that the experiment is farfetched, and not probable. Im just saying to eliminate a possibility simply because it is unlikely* is ignorant and illogical in my personal opinion.

about as much argument as you need with this one.

a computer simulation on this complex of a scale would be infallible. any result of any test would be preconceived since it would just be the output of inputs which the program controls.

there is no way of finding out answers to questions like this because questions like this are illogical.

Why shouldn't a simulation allow sentient life within the simulation to discover that they are being simulated? Really, all the experiment would do is discover if the universe is using resource-saving mechanisms commonly used by regular computers. At such a cosmic level, no real conclusions could be drawn, but we could say that it is more likely that our universe is part of a computer simulation.

i'm saying its illogical to assume that if we were inside a computer program that it would allow the flaw of becoming self aware.

unless you have such delusions of grandeur that you think the universe exist simply to see if you realize its a program.
