imagine this:
how large is the room? -> very small
how many molecules are in the room? -> just a few
this gives a small chance that it will be happen, but if you waint for an infinite amount of time, it WILL happen.
now imagine the effect on a room, that is a bit bigger. the chance is nearly nothing... but the chance still exists...
I don't know if the dude with the example you comented on has any idea of the big bang theory, but the chance that the molecules in a room are just on one half must still exist... at least when we haven't defined the size of the room!
