the past is important but spending your time looking for something thats been gone for thousands of years with little to no evidence is a waste of time.

i'm fine learning about well documented past civilizations and such but i refuse to care about civilizations that have next to zero documentation.

its ok

everyone probably feels like that when they're 14 years old

That mentality breaches into other sects of science.

We don't really have a manual for anything, but we are sure as hell trying. What better way to figure out the inner working of things but to go out and look for it with little to no evidence.

Learning about the past is just as important as preparing for the future.

people obsessing over the unknown will always be a problem for us. its why we have religion and people that didn't know anything about mayans until the 2012 apocalypse crap started.

Had we not explored the unknown, then we would be, technologically, cavemen.

Granted that can get out of hand and it's very sad when it does, but it's unbelievably important to explore, learn, and grow as a society.

i agree with it as long as its productive and not just someone obsessing over the insignificant. for example i understand why people studied mayan culture but i hate all the mayan 2012 doomsday crap. people need to be reasonable when it comes to the past instead of all this hipster history like ancient aliens, mayan apocalypse and so on.

when something has little to no evidence people jump to outrageous conclusions and it annoys me.

Totally agree with you there.

It's pretty easy to become obsessive with something and it can often lead to a toxic state of living.

Really though we can put a hunk of that blame on History Channel's shoulders for constantly interviewing zealots and mythological romantics over potentially invigorating archaeological digs.
