everybody knows neanderthals were much smarter and more capable than cro magnons.

the only reason that cro magnons survived instead of neanderthals was because our genes are more versatile, and less resistant to change.

the article that i read was in a national geographic.

yes.

cro magnons originally only had blonde hair.
when the two species separated, they could still mate for a short period of time.
during that time, some of the neanderthal genes (ie blonde hair) mixed in with cro magnon genes.

then neanderthals died.

I guess I should also say that blond hair color probably evolved after the extinction of neanderthals.

Pale skin, straighter hair, and lighter hair were naturally selected due to their increased amounts vitamin D production in high latitude areas.

as a general statement it doesn't make sense. there is only a tiny portion of neanderthal genetics mixed with modern humans so the effects of it would be minimal at best.
