This thread is hilarious. I love it when people misinterpret quantum mechanics because they think it justifies some crazy idea they've always had.

You never see this with any other branch of science, either. You never hear someone point to organic chemistry and say "See? Life doesn't exist unless you're looking at it!" or other such silliness. It's all uniquely quantum.

I just enjoy the idea of the world piecing itself together for me when I feel enough pity to pay attention to it.

You guys don't understand this concept It's clear to me

The only thing we can be certain of its existence is our own mind.

I understand the concept, I just find it to be preposterous.

If I can take a baseball, hit it with a bat into a random assortment of objects that I cannot see (say over some roof tops in the suburbs), and investigate damage, then this premise falls apart.

Which I can do just that.

We know our own mind exists because if it didn't exist we wouldn't be asking the question.
We know our mind builds models of reality because if we didn't then the word exist is meaningless.
We know our internal models of reality are affected by inputs, which will either correspond to an external reality or may be just feedback.
If the hypothesis of feedback were true it would mean that what you believe regarding reality doesn't matter.
We can therefore rationally assume that an external reality exists without having to be absolutely certain or having our assumption count against us.

PS: The double slit experiment doesn't mean what you think it means.

or the fact that even microscopic organisms with no brain at all are affected by matter.

anyone who believes this is true is retarded.

ask any particle physicist, and i'm certain they'll tell you the universe predates the life within it

now tell me why quantum physicists are interpreting quantum physics differently than you are

if you run up behind someone and hit them in the back of the head with a baseball bat does their brain stay unaffected because they didnt see it coming?
