just saying if we meet aliens the simplest way to communicate with them would obviously be via math dur the universal language

with all the possible alien evolutionary paths out there it simply doesn't make sense to think alien life will be similar to even the strangest earth life.

Why not? Chances are that any alien species that makes it here would be terrestrial like us, not aquatic like dolphins. Or Admiral Ackbar

the thing is we developed for earth. 10% less gravity would completely change the way things evolve on another planet. there are many factors that could change the way senses are developed. sight/smell/touch/taste/hearing work on earth but on another planet they could all be completely useless.

there is nothing that can prepare us for what our first contact is going to be like because we have no idea where it will come from.

so in short its trying to form a plan for a completely random situation.

@ Bolds-- This is wishful thinking.. Chances are we have NO IDEA what form a life aliens we encounter will be. We are limiting the possibilities of what they can be like to our own cognitive parameters. A species of aliens could exhibit traits or qualities that human consciousness could not comprehend...

ya but unlikely, building a space shuttle requires godly tool making skills, nothing an aquatic creature could ever make. Srsly, good luck making fire underwater.
