i would state it as an absolute truth
life has developed many many times during the course of this universe's history
and will develop many many time's in its future

we are in no way unique , or special , or anything of that ilk
nor is our planet

We could be a statistical anomaly. We could also be nothing TOO special. We know life is rare at the very most. We do not know that life exists elsewhere or how many times it has come to exist. Just that it's at least once.

thats not true at all

what we do know , is that as soon as earth settled down enough for life to form , it appeared on earth
and that life is abundant in , on , and above the earth

and there is not a single reason to believe that it hasnt appeared elsewhere

Well, belief in aliens is generally stated by saying something like "Aliens are probably out there somewhere. It'd just be too unlikely for us to be alone in the universe given how big it is." It is rarely stated with absolute certainty. That's where religion and belief in aliens differ. Religion is an assertion of Absolute Truth.

i was just trying to say that its hard to compare them directly like that since one relies on faith and the other relies more on probability/science/etc (assuming you do not claim it with absolute certainty).

That explains it. You're not capable of stringing together a coherent thought.

so how can we "assume" without proof or evidence of ANY kind that there is life outside the earth.. but people who hold on to a religion are nutcases for believing in it without proof? Seems like we cherry-pick our biases.

I agree with you that it probably has, but there's no way we can say that we know it has without actually getting evidence to support that fact. For example, if we find bacterial life on Mars when we go back (because we will, inevitably, go back on a manned mission -- even if it's not NASA that does it) then we will know that life happens and that it's not as rare as we currently think it is.
