That's just the way we perceive it.

The universe is nothing more than many dimensions created by our mind. (Mind = God )

so I don't know is meant by flat.

Assuming space-time can be represented on a manifold (which also implies non-Euclidian geometry!), 'flat' means that the Gauss curvature is zero.
A non-technical (but still correct) explanation for the laymen can be found in the Feynman lectures in the chapter on general relativity, the same explanation can be also found in Brian Greenes first book ('the elegant universe') and the accompanying tv series.

thaaat's not science

as for the flatness, i'm fairly certain this topic is open for debate...that is there doesn't seem to be a universally or even generally accepted answer yet

I'm fairly certain the existence of any transcendental entity or creator such as this is open for debate as well....

Is it spherical?
Obviously not 2D flat, so I don't know is meant by flat.

I'm only about 15 minutes through this right now and so far they've talked a little bit about the universe being flat, another guy suggests it's slightly bent.

11:00-15:00 has an explanation.
