Jeesh, why do physics-topics/experiments/discussions always devolve into trivialities ^^
So, the point of this post was to say that I just found it interesting how the ice cube manages to displace the exact same amount of water as it would later displace when it turns back into water.
In fact, water will ALWAYS only need 1/1000 m^3 of water to make 1 kg of any object float.
So, ANY object LESS DENSE than water that has a mass of 1 kg will ALWAYS displace EXACTLY 1 kg of water, because m = pV! WOW! In fact, ANY fluid will do this! WOW!
Anyways, that wasn't my point at all.
My point was this:
The ice cube is basically 1 kg of water with a potential to become 1/1000 m^3 of water! And the funny thing is, IT DISPLACES 1/1000 m^3 OF WATER, even in solid form! WOW!
Simply put, 1kg of water is displaced by a 1kg SOLID, and the only thing that can replace that displaced 1kg of water is without changing the water level is... WATER! And what's the only substance that's BOTH SOLID AND WATER?
The Almighty Ice Cube!
WOW!
