As in all things scientific, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If those results are not reliably reproducible, then they are more than likely the result of an error at some point in the experiment.

i do not envy the people that have to comb through all that fuckin data lol.

I'm sure they've got supercomputers that actually analyze the data, but someone's probably going to have to go over the code to make sure it's doing exactly what they intended for it to be doing.

They didn't prove it.

If this is about the faster-than-light neutrinos then I'm sorry to inform you that scientists proved that wrong.

But if you're just trolling, which you probably are, then fuck you.

there isn't one. he half ass read something on yahoo and jumped to a conclusion.

the current standing on the test is its being redone to check for mistakes but nothing has been proven wrong with the first test.

that's the current theory which prompted them to redo the experiment. as it stands, they failed to account for the motion of the satellites. considering the infinitesimal amount of time the neutrinos were early by, this may show that the neutrinos just travel very close to the speed of light as opposed to just over it. That's speculative though, and you'll just have to wait and see.

Honestly I'd be shocked if the elite team of scientists forgot to take into account the relativistic motion of satellites.
My AP Physics class in high school learned about that and did problems with it, its common knowledge among a group of PhD's I'd assume.

Even people with PhD's are capable of oversight, especially when you have multiple groups of people working collaboratively on separate parts of the problem. Each group could have thought the other was going to take the time dilation into effect and neither did it.

But like we said. Something that would shake the core of physics needs to be reproducible.
