you are making assumptions about flavorless food being cheaper easier to make and also that it would be healthier.

i guess we will have to iodize something other than salt or you could go one further and just give people IV's of exactly what they need...

if there is a need for flavorless food in the world, then there will be a company to produce said food (in a theoretical economy)

I really don't see how this would "better the world." I don't think this would have a big affect on obesity. A lot of fat people eat to much just because they're hungry and not necessarily because they love eating bags of Cheeto's every day.

Another thing I'm not quite clear on, I don't think removing taste from food would be a cheap process. Or are you talking about making all food into some processed grey mash that has some nutritional value.

In any case I don't think this would help solve problems with people starving to death. McDonalds isn't gonna all of the sudden start giving away free hamburgers in the ghetto or in Ethiopia just because fat people stop buying so many Big Macs.

Our sense of taste helps us to know when food has gone bad and is no longer safe to eat. Without food having any taste whatsoever, we'd lose one important mechanism for knowing whether something is going to kill us or not.
