while its common knowledge that it was made illegal for shady reasons at the time(society changes over time and this happened a long fuckin time ago) doesn't change the fact that people are always going to overdo something that feels good. later on with the controlled substances act it was made illegal for more realistic reasons. even today we have people that can't help but turn it into a bad thing. look at how abused the medical marijuana system is...do you think any of those assholes care if it gets shut down from it? hell no. if it gets shut down people that actually needed it to get by are fucked just because assholes wanted to get high for fun.
