the objects themselves are not moving, it is the space inbetween everything that expands that is also how something can move faster than the speed of light (or the more scientific view, speed of time)

and it is this that says to scientists that the world will end in the so called "big rip" (when space has expanded so much that the distances in an atom has become so great that it cannot hold itself together anymore)
