i talk with my friends about these kinds of things all the time. as of now, i believe i'm only a (semi) conscious compilation of past experience, both my own and those of who brought me here (through genetics and god knows what else). but even though it can be frustrating finding nothing when looking for your "true self" i think it's still a noble effort. in my opinion the best we can do is try to be aware of how we relate to the world around us and go from there.

you see nothing? amazing and sad at the same time
kinda pitiful
pitiful? i think it's quite beautiful actually. having conviction in what you are and what you are not inflates your ego and ultimately limits your potential. even though it can be the drive that makes you rich and famous in a capitalist society, i'm not so sure it's worth it. but people can live however they want, i don't think it makes you better or worse than anyone else
