less than what they gain for telling us. holding back major scientific discoveries is detrimental for the science community.

If there are aliens, I'm willing to bet they will find us, not the other way around.

But what if the aliens were more primitive than us? What if we were the most technologically advanced beings in the universe? Too many what if's in these theories, just believe what you want.

Aliens are already here. It's unclear whether they consider themselves our guardians against another hostile alien race, or are merely just observing.
