Hmm I'll try Home Depot since Walmart's garden didn't have any.
I don't really have any flower shops, other than those that sell roses/pretty flowers. No venus fly traps there though.
Also, when they eat flies, where does it go? Does it get absorbed into the plant or what?
Because it just closes it's mouth on the fly and then what?
I don't know how they'll ship a plant on the internet, so I'm skeptical about buying over the net.
Don't want it to come all broken up with the soil everywhere
it not only eats flies but any type of insect really. it also eats arachnids as well. it absorbs the soft part of them and the exoskeleton/shell drops out when it reopens. after a trap feeds a few times it turns black and dies. new traps will quickly replace it though. and you dont want to feed your plant to much either. that is you dont want to drop bugs in whenever a trap opens. they generally dont do well like that so only have something in half of the traps at a time max. ofc if you put it outside to hunt which they love this time of year then they can eat as much as they want and it doesnt usually bother them but they need to be getting the sunlight too.
you can get potted plants which are more expensive or you can buy either plants that have the roots wrapped in moist towel. also you can buy just the rhizome. first off they usually need to be repotted every few years since the soil gets compacted and starts growing moss/fungus and stuff because its decomposting. the soil is actually sphagnum moss. its a type of peat moss but its not technically peat moss. it might be labled peat moss but should say sphagnum on it somewhere. you can just use it 100% or preferably mix in some perlite. do not use vermiculite. the soil needs to always be moist. also use a good plastic pot. you can sit the pot in a tray of water to help keep it wet. if it drys out the plant will die.
also you gotta use pure water. it cant have a lot of minerals in it or over time it builds up in the soil and will kill the plant.
http://www.flytrapcare.com/go to that website. tons of info. ask what websites are good to order from and you should get some reliable ones.
