Ph.D. is always worth it in the end, people who go for their Ph.D. will always be the ones who get promoted and or raises first. Plus once you start something, you should finish.

I want to get my Psy.D (Doctor of Psychology).
If you have the time, money, patience and want to get it, go for it.
Just understand if you happen to get your PhD, it doesn't guarantee you more money or more success or a better life.
Get it because of the experience and the love for knowledge that you have.

You should evaluate why you want to get a PhD because when you're in the process of getting one, you will be poor. When you finish one, you might still be poor if you don't know what to do with it.

If you have the means to achieve it, I think it's worth doing.

Not for the job

Not for the wife

Not for the recognition

For the personal achievement and satisfaction.

but what do i know, i'm a lowly sophmore in college.
