Derived by injecting something (usually an animal) with a non-lethal (to that organism) dose of the poison, then harvesting the antibodies that are manufactured to counter-act the poison by the organism. Thats animal-borne poisons anyway...
As to poison being too deadly, anti-venoms don't exist for every poison. In those cases it is simply fatal.
good post. however it doesn't address poisons like cyanide. cyanide reacts with hemoglobin in red blood cells which can cause cardiac arrest. the antidotes for these actually inhibit the iron in the hemoglobin to prevent the CN: from bonding in the first place.
