If you don't like the NewEgg options, I have a friend that swears by AlienWare. This is $1200 and you can buy a separate monitor if you want a bigger one:

Or this one is $1500 so that'd be just a little bit more saving:

I'd still recommend NewEgg, though. I've been more wary of AlienWare ever since Dell bought them (not for any particularly good reason, just have an anti-Dell vibe)

Yea I think Alienware is just spending money for the name seeing as how Asus used to make it... and Asus has a high fail rate..

Pretty sure I'm gonna get the Toshiba Qosimo... lmk honest opinions... BTW I have a desktop, but want a nice laptop since I'm often out of town / not home... TY all

with $1400 go for something with atleast 4gb ram and a quad core cpu though a dual core works nicely if you can find a good one in a laptop. way much for the college stuff but will make the gaming nice and smooth lol

...For $1,149 after rebates, you get a computer that's $300 cheaper, same 1920x1080 resolution screen, same amount of RAM, same hard drive, same processor, upgraded video card from GTX425 -> GTX460. The only drawbacks are that the screen is like 1'' smaller and the Asus weights a bit more.
All in all, you get a better gaming computer if you can live with the slightly smaller screen and heavier laptop.

For the $300 you save, you can buy a Netbook or get a warranty on your computer.
