i certainly know what i wanted, which is to contribute to the society, but the situation wont allow me to,

so for the time being, i want to earn a living..... (of coz i wouldnt say this during interviews...)

Why not say this during an interview? Unless they're living under a rock I would imagine any employer understands that the economy is not in good shape right now. Just because you can't find your dream job right now doesn't mean you don't need a job in the mean time. I imagine an employer would understand this if you use a little tact.

Only a part time researching position and a part time teaching position?

Exactly what the hell were you hoping for? That sounds like quite a freaking success to me.

yes you are right, could have been worse

because the next thing they would say is "alright then, we will leave the post to someone that consider it as their dream job"

Try being a science teacher for high school, you can give back to society that way, and the biggest part of society.. teens

try less for the money,
try more for life?

i think, if you have someone to help you while you settle yourself for a job it'd be perfect. i was thinking i'll get a PhD, go into plants, do plant research, discover new plants, teach about plants, grow weed, maybe somehow tie this all in with languages, since i'm fluent in english and vietnamese, and i am taking arabic and i know some french and german.

its better to know more about life. look to discover something. science is still young

also: think you can help me with stats, genetics and microbiology? i'm doing so badly in those courses lmaoooo
BUT i'm doing fucking well in plant biology and arabic :D

did you know that if you discover plants you get to name them! thatd be so fun :D, also, what if you discovered a new plant, like a weird mutated one...and you find that it's a cure to something?
how amazing would that be

I'm surprised by both yours and Haitham's stories. Presently in Australia scientists are in high demand. The Government recently subsidized the degree to entice more people into the field. I am studying microbiology/molecular genetics and plan on completing a PhD once I finish my undergrad. Most graduate students I have talked to have said they already have jobs lined up and many are on scholarships from CSIRO.

But being a scientist should enable you great flexibility in which country you work. Why not try somewhere in Europe?

Also which university in London did you complete your degree? Imperial College?
