The only problem I have with this conclusion is that we have found no evidence of advanced ancient technology used to build these bombs or other technological feats. If they knew how to build atom bombs then why were they still using clay pots and sun-dried brick houses?

Well obviously this ancient Indian city was in a valley so they were isolated from the outside world, and the nuclear weapon they built was so powerful that it completely annihilated everything that was in that valley that could have given evidence of any technology at all. At the same time, everyone knows that clay pots and sun-dried brick houses are more durable than nuclear weapons technology, so that's why there is still evidence of them in that city.

aka, ZvLoD is probably right. It was just a meteor that contained radiation which dispersed around the city on impact. You don't need a nuclear reaction in order to make a mushroom cloud, after all, so if someone had seen it that was outside the range of the blast, it's no surprise that what they described was a mushroom cloud.

yes but you dont get glass from meteors like you do from the extreme heat of a nuclear device.

that place was literally melted. there is no way it was a meteor because otherwise they would have found peices of a meteorite.

yes it is astounding and we dont know why it happened but it is agreed upon that something nuclear based happened there.

No, you actually do get glass from meteorites.

Search "glass" on this webpage and you'll see that meteors can turn sand into glass.

well ya but i ment to imply that the glassing isnt consistant with the impact of a meteorite. sorry shoulda been clearer.

And how isn't it consistent with a meteor?

because when they dug down they found a nice layer of glass.

meteorites are similar around where it impacted but as it gets farther our you get sprayed chunks but not a consistent layer.

but the main thing is analysis. meteorite glass is usually part of the meteorite. because most meteorites are composed of iron and nickle the glass is made up of sand, iron, and nickle and is a black glass.

now this ancient city had no evidence of meteorite material and further more the glass found was "green" glass that is consistent with an atomic device.

Another possibility is that in the past India's government tested a nuclear device somewhere in the proximity of this city, or more likely, underground near this city. It is a nuclear power, after all, and as such it has definitely tested weapons in the past. Do underground nukes melt sand as well? I guess it'd depend on how far underground it was detonated.

no there was a layer of glass buried in the ground showing that it was old as hell.

An underground nuclear blast would necessarily make glass underground if there's sand above it. The farther down the nuke was detonated, the older the sand was before it was turned to glass.
