as for computer engineering. if you mean design engineering i took classes in my highschool for that using CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) and thats what im looking into as a future job. its actually very entertaining in my opinion. Search for mechanical engineering degree or something and look for a list of job opportunities that that degree provides for. its a very broad proffession and can be used in a lot of different circumstances.

this is horrible advice and horrible preparation for engineering. i did maybe two weeks of graphics in my engineering degree. mechanical would do maybe two dedicated courses, if that, and electrical significantly less. engineering design is not graphics and modelling, unless you also did fluid mechanics, fracture mechanics, heat transfer, and control systems, which I doubt, then you're not really well equipped for engineering.

Hey guys, what do you think of this as a choice for an undergraduate degree at university?
I know I want to do engineering, i'm kind of stuck between comouter or electrical.
Can any of you provide some information about each?

mostly the difference in coding and programming.

as i thought
most people that go into engineering dont really know what they want to do in life (as an occupation)

most people go into engineering for the money and don't understand what it's about.

Electrical engineering is an extremely broad field. I might even put computer engineering as a subset of electrical engineering. I would go electrical simply because you would cover more bases (though it won't be particularly deep). EE covers computer science and engineering(digital), analog design, communications, and signal processing.

i dont see how i provided "horrible advice" whatsoever. i simply stated my opinion, and advised looking into mechanical engineering. it is quite obvious you know more about engineering than i do, and i respect that, but i disagree that my advice was horrible.

electrical has quite a bit about CE in it. For example Digital Logic Design kinda shows you the foundation of this stuff how 1's and 0's can add big number etc etc. Do some programming here and there so far as well as VLSI design and what not.

I've sent my admission into the faculty of engineering and science today. Even though it's past the deadline to switch
field of study's for the 2010/2011 semesters, theres a chance there still maybe room for me, otherwise i'd just to general studies
along the lines of engineering and take an extra year in school or do the spring semester.

i'm in comp eng. it is basically a joint program with electrical for the first 3 years. then splits for the last 2. u'll basically learn the same stuff. math, general physics, general chem, programming, circuits, embedded systems, digital signals etc...

you don't really choose until 2nd or 3rd year engineering I believe.
first year engineering is the same for everyone.

not at my college, at least with the case of electrical engineering. For EE there is a line of Pre-Requisites that basically says that you're going to be in college for a good 4 years from the first time you take your intro to EE class and climb the classes. 3 years if you take MayMester and WinterMester stuff if the classes are offered.
