Yeah haven't thought about all negative things yet, many people have ordered an iPad yet and the rumors are big.
Even if Apple might be overpriced in some kind, they got their reasons for not implenting a USB port. Just think about, how many other companies would try use it for their own & new products.
They have even restricted the chargers for the iPod Touch, which made me feel pretty uncomfortable.
But please try to lower your verbal attacks, Apple hasn't made success because you didn't buy it.

Okay, outgoing from all this criticism, what you think makes people buy the iPad actually?

I will come up for some reasons aswell from the internet, had a good website for that.

Cheers

that and all, I don't get your second line. I can't think of any companies trying to use it for their own & new products.
I see the who restricting chargers thing, and ipods to itunes and what not, fine but w/e.

I think what makes people buy the iPad is their fandom of apple and support for the company to later realize they made a bad investment.

Frankly, I was beyond excited for the Apple Tablet PC. I was literally going to buy in about 2 months when I needed one for college.

Then they came out with the Ipad. Its a book reader, not a fucking tablet as was expected by the PC world.

Here I come, Fujitsu.

I find apple atrocious in the whole closed-development bit
including how devices with usb connection don't show up like every other normal appliance on a computer, rather using Apple software to connect to more apple software
- and only got the ipod touch with the goal to jailbreak

And I've heard of their pretentious customer service, called the "genius bar", wth

I really can't see a practical advantage for having an ipad versus having an ipod touch/iphone or any laptop
I mean, what is it really targeted to do?

They want to keep space for their own products they can sell for a huge amount of $, simple as that.
One example on the iPod: In cooperation with Nike they created the sports kid: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nike%2BiPod (is not certainly for iPod touch, but can't load Apple pages).
Such and other products, on which you pay a huge amount for the license + the brand, are restricted to be made by Apple, because they are having so many restrictions on their devices.
So my point of view is, that they are trying not to let any other companies make products, that could refute their divinity or even pose the question, why Apple didn't make such a good product in the end.

No one expected the success of the Iphone, too.
Now it's the same with the Ipad, I don't know if I really need it, well.
But I might buy one for my parents or so, a notebook is too big for them, an Iphone too small, so it would fit perfect I hope :)

I mean you are the only one in this topic, that could imagine to buy an iPad.
I've read a quite convincing article in the FAZ, but first of it's in German and secondly I can not invoke it on my computer, because it would cost me 2 Euros.
Anyways I'm quite sure, that I will find some persuading arguments in English aswell ;), haven't even researched yet.

To summarize it, Apple shows the way of modern computers and you should also foresee from the negative points and refer to the fact, what it could mean to other people, that life is getting easier, just like watching TV, people do not need the troublesome multitasking anymore and can just take their portable computer, open an application and start browsing.

I'm getting an iPod touch soon, and have questions!!!

soo, with my old 3rd gen nano, i tend to drop it, ALOT, so i got a metal case for it,
what would be a good virtually indestructible case for iPod touch??

the internet on it, i've researched it a bit, and i think it's free, but
for use at home, do i need a bluetooth thing on my computer so i can go on the internet on iPod touch??
or at home wi-fi?? (do that have that??) or something with a router?? (clueless here) :P

i LOVE games, i've already downloaded some, (bloons, :D ) but
can you think of any apps that are AWESOME and a must have??

help is appreciated, thanks! :)

Heh Paul,
that's alot of questions at once!
But to answer you the first ones shortly:
1) The background of the iPod Touch is really sensitive, it will be scratched if you don't use any protection case, but me for myself I got used to it.
And it's all up to you, whether you can live with some scars on the back or not, it's not important for anything ...
All in all you should not drop your iPod touch so often :headscratch: .
But there is alot of cases.
Some are more stylish and others protect very well.
So you may browse youtube (my first tip, because I just got 1 case) and look, if you like it.
They are reviewed there and often you get an extra feedback on its usability.
I'd love to tell you, that the otterbox case is offering you good protection, but atm they do not have it available for the iTouch, but due to high request they are going to set it up again. So it's up to you, what you wanna do.
In case there are alot of serious case companies: Belkin, gear4, CaseMate etc., just look for some.
And you also have to decide, if you want a screenprotector or not.
So basically you do not need, if you have a case, that fully protects you iPod.
If you have a case, that just defends your back from scratches and your forefront if it drops, you should put a screen protector, because if you have it in your trouser pocket with keys and stuff, it might damage the front.
So a case is a must I think, I got a mate without any, he is not fussy with his iPod and it doesn't look delicious, because the front is scarred.
2) The iPod has an integrated Wifi connector, so as long as you have a router, that is wifi-able, you just need to enter the pw of your wifi ( if there is any) and then you can start of.
Note: It just works with wifi. Otherwise you would need an iPhone with a contract, which is not adorable =P, but that would work w/o wifi then.
And it is totally free, because you use your wireless connection, like you can do with computers.
3)Concering the games: I've already played alot of games and I can surely help you.
So far I can tell you, that there are lots of goodies, also for multiple players.
Atm I'm not on my computer so I'm not able to manage everything right now, but within the next few days I can give you short reviews on Apps.
As a help you can always browse in youtube for reviews on games and applications or simply look, with how many stars the application is reviewed in the app-store. Be careful with the notes from anybody about a game, but in case the overall result should be informative.
Also look for free versions of a game, it's always cool to test a game if there is any available.

I hope I could help you, for further questions feel free to ask.

no problem man, that's why I'm doing this =P

so for the applications, I'm giving you some games now

I think it's best for you to browse free apps first, later on you can decide, whether you buy full versions (for this, you can just enter the gamename in youtube and you'll get review examples)

X2Football lite
labyrinth ( free edition)
catcha mouse
paper toss
FallDown!
Heavy Mach lite
archers
fs5 hockey
air hockey
stick wars lite
angry birds lite

So if you're down with them, you can ask for more examples, so these are quite nice games, mostly there is another add-on available, but does usually cost money.
Just try them out and we'll see

And as I said you can post your questions here and we'll try to manage the best possible.
